CAVIAR GUIDES

How to Serve Caviar

Keep the ritual simple, chilled and enjoyable.

Keep it chilled

Refrigerate the tin according to its own label and open it shortly before serving. Present small portions rather than leaving the whole tin at room temperature for a long time. Follow the label for handling after opening.

Taste it first on its own

A small spoonful lets you notice the pearl texture and finish. Mother-of-pearl is a traditional serving material; another clean, non-reactive utensil can also work. Avoid strongly flavoured foods at the first taste.

Add simple accompaniments

Mini blinis and a small amount of crème fraîche are familiar companions. Keep them understated so they support the caviar rather than cover it. Give guests the choice to try plain caviar first.
